When my boy / girl twins were four years old, I decided to make them a special birthday cake
each for their forthcoming party. Up to then I had always bought cakes from the supermarket
but felt they were uninspiring, expensive and lacked a personal touch. The first cakes I made
were a tiger faced cake for my son and a piggy bank for my daughter.
Both cakes were admired by both children and parents alike and I felt immensely proud of
my creations. They hadn’t been difficult to make but they looked impressive and my children
were delighted with them. My confidence grew and I started to make more adventurous ones.
At one party a friend asked me where I had bought the fabulous cakes from, I told her I had
I made them myself and she instantly ordered a purple princess cake from me for her
daughter. She said I should do more and even suggested the name Felicitations!
I have been making novelty cakes for friends and family now for a few years. They have
ranged from rugby cakes, football and footballers, princesses, tractors, rabbits, flowers in
a flowerpot, a stack of presents, insects, a panda, a coach and many more. I will consider
anything for any occasion – you think it and I’ll make it!
My prices are normally in the region of £50 - £60, depending on size, design and time taken
to complete the cake. I usually make Madeira cakes, because of their firmness and buttery
taste, but I will happily tailor cakes to your requests.
When I decided to start my own cake making business, I had my kitchen inspected and
registered and I passed a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering. |
